Vihreät niityt – Q & A

Experience

What does immersiveness mean?
In an immersive work, the viewer immerses himself in the performance, where he moves independently. The work is multisensory, gently inclusive, and the importance of the performance venue is emphasized. You experience scenes in a non-linear way as the story unfolds around you. You will create your own experience through your own choices.

Can I come to watch the play if I don’t understand Finnish?
The presentation language is Finnish, but the performance is also suitable for non-Finnish speakers. Vihreät niityt  (Green Fields) is audiovisually rich site-specific show combining written scenes with physical theatre, contemporary dance and circus, capable of providing a full immersive experience even though one might not be able to understand everything. There are many scenes and acts that do not contain text. Also, programme includes an English synopsis to illuminate the scenario and plot.

How to behave in the show?
You follow the show by walking from room to room and the show takes place all around you. Before the performance, instructions will be given on how to move around the space.

Do I have to participate in the show as a spectator?
Participation is voluntary and it’s okay to refuse the opportunities offered. All you have to do is walk and move from room and floor to another.

Is it possible to get lost in the venue?
A momentary experience of getting lost is possible, but there are always staff at the lobby doors who you can ask for directions. There are also two guides circulating on the premises.

Can I go to a room where there is no performer?
Absolutely. We encourage you to check out all the rooms whose doors are open and there is no access prohibited sign on the door.

Can I sit in the show?
There are a few chairs in the performance space. Please consider the spectators who may need a chair more than you.

Is there anything I should be aware of regarding the content of the show?
The show has an intense atmosphere. It sometimes contains sexual and violent content aimed at adult viewers, but also humor and lightness. We especially take care that the viewer can safely get lost in the world of Green Fields, no matter what the content is. In addition, the show has aromatic scents and theater smoke and blood as a visual element.

How has it been ensured that all viewers can safely venture into the world of the show?
The presentation follows the principles of a safer space. You don’t have to participate in anything if you don’t want to. If a certain situation or scene feels oppressive, you can easily move to another room.

Can I take photos and video at the show?
Your experience will improve when you focus on experiencing the show instead of using your phone. Photo or video recording of the performance is not allowed.
