Price categories

The main stage auditorium is divided into two different categories of seats. The best seats in the middle section are included in Category A, and the seats at the very front and back, as well as along the sides, are included in the slightly more affordable Category B.

Discounts

The Oulu Theatre offers discount tickets for its own productions and some guest productions. A valid ID entitling the customer to the discount must be shown. Discount tickets are available for the following groups:

• Under 26s
• Students
• The unemployed
• Pensioners
• Conscripts and persons undergoing non-military service

All preview tickets are the same price as discount tickets, except for previews of musicals or operas.

Free tickets to veterans of the Finnish wars for own productions of the Oulu Theatre will be available one week prior to each performance, provided that there are free seats. Veterans and their spouses or companions are eligible for the free tickets. For a free ticket, please contact the Oulu Theatre box office. Veteran tickets are not valid for guest performances.

When picking up the ticket, one of the following must be shown: a front-line soldier or front-line service badge, a social insurance (Kela) card indicating the holder as a veteran or a membership card of Sotainvalidien Veljesliitto.

Wörtti tickets

Wörtti is a special discount ticket for under 26-year-olds. If there are free seats one hour before a performance, a Wörtti ticket can be bought for €10. Wörtti tickets are only available from the theatre’s box office.

Kaikukortti card

A Kaikukortti card can be used to gain free admission to own productions of the Oulu Theatre. It cannot be used for guest performances, musicals, operas or premieres, however. The ticket covers the price of the self-service cloakroom and a programme booklet. A Kaikukortti card cannot be used to make reservations: tickets can be redeemed from the Oulu Theatre box office at the earliest one week prior to the performance, provided that there are free sets available.

There is a limited number of Kaikukortti tickets per performance.

Wheelchair spaces

When purchasing tickets at the box office, please notify us if you require a wheelchair space. Each auditorium has two wheelchair spaces available per performance. An assistant’s seat is included with the wheelchair space. Wheelchair and assistant seats can be purchased at ticket outlets, by phone, or through Lippu.fi. For inquiries about additional wheelchair spaces, please contact the box office.

Assistants (e.g., for visually impaired or developmentally disabled patrons or war veterans) receive a free ticket for performances. These tickets are available at the Oulu Theater box office.

Seating plans

Gift cards

Gift cards for the Oulu Theatre are available from the theatre’s box office and the online store at oulunteatteri.lippu.fi.

You can determine the sum you want to add to the Oulu Theatre gift card, and the gift card will be valid for one year (12 months) from the date of purchase. Gift cards can be used for all productions in the theatre’s repertoire, and they can also be used to buy a programme and pay for the cloakroom. Gift cards are also accepted in the Oulu Theatre online store. Please note that gift cards can be used for intermission refreshments only in the online store (not on-site).

Season premiere ticket

The season premiere ticket covers four premiers on the main stage with a dedicated seat. During the 2024–2025 season, the premieres included in the ticket are Ainoa kotini (My Only Home; 24 August 2024), A Christmas Carol (9 November 2024), Kinky Boots (1 February 2025) and Perillä – Destination (5 April 2025). The season ticket costs €173.50, including a service charge of €4.50. 

If you wish, you can exchange your season premiere ticket for another performance of the same production for a fee of €10. The exchange must take place at the latest one week prior to the performance.

Information about tickets

The ticket price consists of the basic price, a service charge, and order and delivery charges that depend on the place of purchase. No order or delivery charges are added to the price if you purchase your ticket from the theatre’s box office.

Individual tickets must be redeemed one week after the reservation and group tickets one month prior to the performance. Please check that you have received the correct ticket.

Wheelchair spaces for sold-out performances will be converted to regular seats during the performance week if no wheelchair spaces have been purchased.

Exchanging tickets

For a fee, an already purchased ticket can be exchanged for another performance. The exchange fee is €10 per order. If the new ticket is more expensive than the original, you will have to cover the difference in addition to the exchange fee. The exchange must take place at the latest one week prior to the performance. Exchange is not possible for group reservations of more than 10 tickets. Tickets can only be exchanged via the theatre’s box office.

Cancellation of a performance

A performance will only be cancelled in case of a force majeure event such as an actor/actress falling ill.

In such a case, customers may exchange their tickets for another performance of the same show or get a refund. The delivery charge will not be refunded in the event of a ticket refund or exchange.

Tickets must be exchanged at the theatre’s box office. Refunds for cancelled performances can be applied for using a form available at Lippu.fi.

The theatre cannot be held liable for any other costs incurred by customers due to a cancellation or a force majeure event. The theatre reserves the right to change the prices and the programme.
