Youth Stage
Learning more about theatre
The Youth Stage is taking a break during the 2024–2025 season. However, there are plenty of other activities for young people at the Oulu Theatre, such as Open Stage.
Launched in October 2015, the Oulu Theatre Youth Stage has become hugely popular. The Youth Stage offers young people in the Oulu region a new hobby and the opportunity to do theatre under the guidance of professionals.
The activities are open to all young people between the ages of 14 and 18 regardless of their skills or previous hobbies, and the group is formed through a separate call for applications in the autumn.
The attendees learn from the professionals about the different aspects of theatre from playwriting to staging and acting, and get to play with the professionals. The year-long dive into the world of theatre culminates in performances at the Oulu Youth Theatre Festival in the spring.
Application
The call for applications for the Youth Stage takes place in August. No call for applications was arranged in the autumn of 2024.
We want to promote equality in all our activities, which is why we welcome applications from young people of all ages, backgrounds and genders. A perfect command of the Finnish language is not a prerequisite. The language of theatre is universal, and the stage belongs to everyone. We are extremely happy to have had such a diverse group of applicants in the past.
The Youth Stage costs €100 for the autumn season and €100 for the spring season.
